Anakim

Other Names / Variants: Anakimenium(?)
Meaning of Name: "giants"

Anakim - the offspring of fallen angels and mortal woman, an issue touched on in Genesis 6.  According to The Zohar, the anakim were so tall that "the Hebrews were like grasshoppers in comparison."  Uzza and Azael are singled out in The Zohar as having children "whom they called anakim."  Originally, the nefilim was the name of the anakim [Rf. Jung, Fallen Angels in Jewish, Christian, and Mohammedan Literature;  Deuteronomy 1:28; Joshua 14:12.]  The Legends of the Jews I, 151, says that the anakim "touched the sun with their necks."  This description is found in many sources including rabbinic and Islamic.
