Nakaa

Micronesian God who Punishes Evil Souls

NAKAA:  Islanders in Micronesia believe that Nakaa, the god of the harvest, punishes evil souls in the afterlife.  Nakaa sits at the edge of the spirit world where all departing souls must pass after death.  The spirits of those who have led good and decent lives are allowed to pass and enjoy paradise.  But when Nakaa detects a wicked soul approaching, the throws an enchanted new over the spirit, trapping it forever.  Rather than finding peace in death, such souls struggle for eternity in a vain attempt to free themselves.  (o)
