Camio, Caym |
Caim - once of the order of angels, Caim is
now in hell, a great president. He manifests in the form of a
thrush. As many as 30 legions of infernal spirits attend him.
His seal is figured in Waite, The Book of Black Magic and of Pacts,
p.182. Luther had a famous encounter with Caim, according to
De Plancy, Dictionnaire Infernal where (in the 1863 ed.) Caim is
pictured as a belted bird.
(a)
Caim, who looks
at first like a blackbird, then transforms himself into a man wielding a
sharp sword. When asked a question, he answers - though it is not
entirely clear what this means - in burning ashes. Once of the Order
of Angels, he likes to argue, and if he feels so disposed, he can impart
the meaning in the songs of birds, the lowing of cattle, the barking of
dogs, the babbling of a stream. (c)

man's shape, he answereth in burning ashes, carrieng in his hand a most
sharpe swoord, he maketh the best disputers, he giveth men the
understanding of all birds, of the lowing of bullocks, and barking of
dogs, and also of the sound and noise of waters, he answereth best of
things to come, he was of the order of angels, and ruleth thirtie legions
of divels. (g)

appeareth in the Form of the Bird called a Thrush at first, but afterwards

seemeth to answer in Burning Ashes, or in Coals of Fire. He is a Good
Disputer. His Office is to give unto Men the Understanding of all Birds,
Lowing of Bullocks, Barking of Dogs, and other Creatures; and also of the
Voice of the Waters. He giveth True Answers of Things to Come. He was of
the Order of Angels, but now ruleth over 30 Legions of Spirits Infernal.
