Balam - Formerly an angel of the order of dominations; now, in hell, a "terrible and powerful king, with 3 heads (bull, ram, man) and the tail of a serpent."  He rides naked astride a bear (see picturization in De Plancy, Dictionnaire Infernal, 1863 ed.).  He commands 40 legions of infernal spirits.  [Rf. Balam. A monarch great and terrible among the infernal powers, according to Wierius.  He has three heads, those of a bull, a man, and a ram.  Joined to these is the tail of a serpent, the eyes of which burn with fire.  He bestrides an enormous bear.  He commands forty of the infernal legions, and rules over finesse, ruses and middle courses.  (b)


BALAM. - The Fifty-first Spirit is Balam or Balaam. He is a Terrible, Great, and  Powerful King. He appeareth with three Heads: the first is like that of a Bull; the second is like that of a Man; the third is like that of a Ram. He hath the Tail of a Serpent, and Flaming Eyes. He rideth upon a furious Bear, and carrieth a Boshawk upon his Fist. He speaketh with a hoarse Voice, giving True Answers of Things Past, Present, and to Come. He maketh men to go Invisible, and also to be Witty. He governeth 40 Legions of Spirits. His Seal is this, etc.  (h)
