The Naiads were water nymphs who dwelt in brooks,
springs, and fountains.
The Nereids were the 50 water nymphs parented by
Nereus and Doris. One of the Nereids, Thetis became the mother
of Achilles. Amphitrite, another one, is the wife of Poseidon.
The Oceanids were the 50 water nymphs parented by
Oceanus and Tethys.
