Nereus

Nereus is the Greek God of the Sea (the Mediterranean).  He is also known as the Old Man of the Sea.  Hesiod once called him "a trusty god and gentle who thinks just and kindly thoughts and never lies."  He was married to Doris, a daughter of Oceanus.  Together they had fifty daughters, the Nereids, the nymphs of the sea.
