| I am very much interested in comparative mythology and magickal studies and have been for many years. After 10 years of working I finally had the time and the money to attend college, Ohio State University. This lead to some major changes in my website. When I began this site in 1997 it was merely a place to store my notes which didn't necessarily come from the best sources nor were they always cited. After my first few quarters at OSU I took a good look at the website and decided to make some changes. Although none of the information has been removed, it has been cited properly. Therefore as you go through the site you will see something most sites on the internet lack - bibliographies. Some sections still lack this information in areas but as I continue my work I will be adding it. The information you read will come directly from the source itself - no rewording, no paraphrasing, etc - and the sources are clearly listed at the bottom of the page. Please note that I include sources whose information may not always be accurate. Some authors do their homework better than others and some are more biased than others. I include these because I believe its important to see how information evolves and changes with each retelling. For the most part I only use sources that are more or less legitimate (i.e. non-fiction and usually outside of popular reading on the subject). However you will see many inconsistencies from one source to the next. The sections within Paganism: Ancient & Modern are the exceptions within this website. These sections were not started for comparative purposes so much as they were created for my own religious use. I am the former owner of a pagan store so I posted much of what I created for the shop here (in terms of both product and rites). These will be undergoing changes as well. As I undergo a more academic study of magick I will be adding more historical information to those areas as well. Modern pagans will be quite disappointed when they learn that magick and ritual as it existed historically is nothing like the practices of today. Ancient magick is, however, extraordinarily exciting and informative - much more satisfying that anything that Llewellyn authors could dream up. I am an associate with Amazon.com and several other well known companies. The Shops of WRG will showcase books and items that I have found across the web. Many of the books that are listed were used in the creation of this site. This section is undergoing a major overhaul that began on 12-12-07. It will grow and expand fairly rapidly over the next few months so be warned that most links do not yet work. |
WhiteRose's Garden Face-Lift!
I have started the migration of the site from FrontPage to Dreamweaver. The content pages will remain the same and I will not be adding any new content until I hire a web developer
Web Developer Wanted!
I am searching for a web developer to set up the back end of whiterosesgarden.com. I can migrate content but need someone to design an easier-to-manage-and-update solution (on a Linux server). Contact me for additional details.
